Moon Phases

Knowing the phases of the moon and making the most of that moon energy is the perfect way to connect with your inner rhythms. Try and look up at the night sky whenever you get the chance and look at how beautiful the moon looks shining down upon our earth.  The sun and the moon influence all of our energy cycles.  The sun gives us a dynamic manifestation of energy with heat and light whilst the moon’s reflective qualities distribute this energy during the darkness hours, bringing receptivity and assimilation.

The Icon on the homepage will let you know exactly where the moon is today, whether it is waxing and waning.  The influence of the moon was recognised and honoured by the earliest people and as life becomes more and more hectic we need to recognise that too.

The full moon rises approximately when the sun sets.  It is a time for celebration, decision making and outward expression.  It is a peak of heightened energy and the increase in psychic power can often have the effect of making us feel restless and a bit unbalanced.  Knowing this can help in learning how to deal with these emotional effects and to channel them into change and action.

This was the full moon on 12th December 2008, and for me the start of Astarte Moon. This was the brightest moon for 35 years- a very special oak moon

Drawing Down the Moon

A powerful exercise to complete when the moon is full is drawing down the moon , this essentially will fill you with the moon’s wonderful energy and its effects will last well beyond the night it is performed.

Create your sacred space in spot where the full moon is visible to you and kneel with your arms on either side of your head so that they gently curve inwards. Close your eyes and take some deep breaths to centre yourself, then open your eyes and gaze upon the glory of the moon in her fullness.  As you do so focus your mind upon the symbol of the Goddess and you may like to chant or repeat in your head’ Lady of the Moon, Lady of the Moon, come to us be with us Lady of the Moon’ Think about all that she does for us and the land and visualize her golden energy filling your body. When you are ready thank the moon and be sure to ground yourself before you carry on with the rest of your evening.

The moon then begins to wane- the waning moon rises mid evening and sets mid morning and the energies of the waning moon correspond with dusk or twilight solar energies.  The waning moon brings us reflection and looking inwards.  This is an ideal time for removing pain and sickness, banishing negative thoughts and letting go of negative people or influences in our lives.

The wa
xing moon rises mid morning and sets after sunset.  This waxing energy brings with it growth, plans for the future and ideas for new beginnings.  We can use this energy to bring about change in our lives, attract good luck and work towards long term goals.  As I am writing this the moon is waxing and is 15% full, and ideal time for me to be developing this website and progress my new business venture!

Moon Diary

Keeping a Moon Diary can be a very useful exercise in helping understand any differences in emotions or physical symptoms that you may suffer from during the month.  Make a note each day of whether the moon is waxing or waning and what stage it is at.  Try and make some time every day to look at the moon or if it is cloudy in the direction of the moon and imagine that you are absorbing some of its powerful energy.

A fabulous time to cleanse and re- energize your crystals is to leave them overnight during the night of the full moon. As they have been energised so will you feel the effects of this renewed energy over the coming month.
